Center Rules & Discipline

AS WITH ALL WALKS OF LIFE, THERE ARE RULES.  ALL CHILDREN WILL BE TAUGHT AND EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THE RULES OF LALA’S LOVEABLES CHILDCARE.

THERE WILL BE NONE OF THE FOLLOWING PERMITTED BY CHILDREN AND ADULTS ALIKE:

NO……

  • RUNNING PERMITTED INSIDE THE PREMISES
  • HITTING
  • PUSHING
  • BITING
  • GRABBING
  • KICKING
  • SPITTING
  • PINCHING
  • STANDING OR CLIMBING ON CHAIRS OR TABLES
  • USE OF OBSCENE, DEROGATORY OR DISRESPECTFUL LANGUAGE
  • WALKING AROUND WITH FOOD, CUPS OR BOTTLES.

RESPECTFUL TREATMENT OF OTHER PEOPLE AND ALL PROPERTY, TOYS, AND FURNITURE IS EXPECTED.  WILLFUL DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY WILL BE CHARGED TO THE PARENT AT THE COST TO REPLACE THE ITEM.  WE ANTICIPATE YOUR COOPERATION IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THESE RULES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN AN ENJOYABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL.

IN ADDITION I REALIZE THAT I MUST ACCEPT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF WEAR AND TEAR WHERE CHILDREN ARE CONCERNED.  DO PUT INTO CONSIDERATION THAT THIS IS MY HOME AND I DO NOT WANT IT “DEMOLISHED.”

GUIDANCE (DISCIPLINE)

SOME MAY PREFER TO USE THE WORD DISCIPLINE WHEN DISCUSSING HELPING CHILDREN LEARN TO ACCEPT SOCIETAL STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR.  HOWEVER THE WORD DISCIPLINE FREQUENTLY HAS A CONNOTATION OF PUNISHMENT, WHICH MAKES IT LESS DESIRABLE IN OUR SETTING.  WE MAINTAIN A POSITIVE GUIDANCE POLICY WHICH FOCUSES ON PREVENTION, REDIRECTION, LOVE, CONSISTENCY AND COMMITMENT.  CENTER RULES ARE EXPLAINED AND REINFORCED FREQUENTLY SO THE CHILDREN BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE GUIDELINES.  PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE WILL BE DISAGREEMENTS BETWEEN CHILDREN.  YOUNG CHILDREN HAVE A HARD TIME EXPRESSING THEIR FEELINGS VERBALLY AND TEND TO ACT OUT PHYSICALLY.  WE WILL TRY TO PREVENT PROBLEMS BY REDIRECTING AND WHEN APPROPRIATE THE USE OF THE “*COOL DOWN CORNER”

*WHERE A CHILD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO RELAX AND REFLECT ON HIS/HER BEHAVIOR.

**UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THERE BE ANY SPANKING, PHYSICAL ABUSE, VERBAL ABUSE, NAME CALLING OR ISOLATION USED.  NEITHER FOOD NOR SLEEP WILL EVER BE WITHHELD FROM CHILDREN AS A MEANS OF PUNISHMENT.**

IF A DISCIPLINE PROBLEM ARISES WHERE THE CHILD DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED TECHNIQUES, IT WILL BE NECESSARY FOR PARENT(S) AND PROVIDER TO HOLD A JOINT CONFERENCE WHERE WE WILL ATTEMPT TO FIND A SOLUTION.  IF NECESSARY, FOR THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF ALL, YOUR CHILD MAY BE REMOVED FROM CARE IF HIS/HER BEHAVIOR PREVENTS US FROM PROVIDING ADEQUATE CARE FOR THE OTHER CHILDREN.
